The Pen Ya Project by Roseanne Peña

About

Pen Ya is my personal project and greatest endeavor of momentum and growth. It is the portrayal of the Houston art scene and its development. I will represent Houston via one-to-one interviews with 55+ artists, a portrait session, and explorative photographic statement and post it on my blog.

Donate direct via Fractured Atlas: Pen Ya

My purpose is three-fold: to create and promote growth among artists, cultivate out-of-the-box thinking, and simply ‘be’ in experience with others, as well as, strengthen the local art community through awareness of one another and expand local awareness of artists- locally and nationally. The end result will be published to a four-color process book called Pen Ya: Artiste Imaginarium–Houston Edition. A percentage of earned revenue (book sales) will be donated to MECA (Multicultural Education and Counseling through the Arts) to help underprivileged children learn through the arts.

MECA is non-profit organization committed to helping students explore their artistic capabilities through classical, contemporary, and multicultural performing and visual arts education.

Personal Mission
Pen Ya is project driven by the desire to break through self-imposed limitations and driven by a deep-rooted sense of building community. I love photography, writing and enjoy being a social creature from time to time….so, the idea was to develop a plan that would help me explore my passions and build upon others. The outcome became to investigate the Houston Art Scene, build rapport with artists, and promote them. Through this exploration, I discover more about myself and others benefit from our dynamic.
